Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Elm Grove Public Library Teen Volunteer Opportunities (Ages 13-17)
Shelf reading is the process of straightening shelves and putting them in proper order. You should be able to alphabetize, learn Dewey Decimal System order and have about 30 minutes per week to work. The time commitment is flexible, so you may choose whatever day and time works best for you, but a minimum of 6 weeks (about 3 hours total) is recommended. Training is provided before you start.
Shelf reading is recommended for students who can focus well and like to pay attention to detail. If you want to be a volunteer shelf reader, please fill out the application below and turn it in to Sue Daniels, Youth Services Librarian. You will be contacted to set up a training date.
Program Assistants help run special programs for kids throughout the year. These opportunities vary depending on the time of year, with the majority of events offered during the summer.
This fall we will be starting a Lego Club once per month on Thursdays, October 19, November 16 and December 14. Volunteers will be needed at 3:15-5:00 p.m.to help with set-up, clean-up and supervising construction.
Volunteers will also be needed for the Holiday Family Event on Thursday, December 7. Volunteers should arrive at 5:00 p.m. to set up. Families will begin to arrive at 6:00 and volunteers will help kids with crafts, serve refreshments and clean up afterward. Event runs until 8:00 p.m. and volunteers will be finished by 8:30.
If you are interested in helping with any of these programs, please complete this application
